Featured Project: A Kitchen Reimagined in Mt. Washington

Our client had lived with this kitchen for more than two decades—always with the intention of renovating, always waiting for the right moment. Over the years, a leak from the bathroom above had been repaired but left a conspicuous patch in the ceiling, the cabinetry had begun to fail, and the layout no longer supported her love of cooking. When she came to us, she wasn’t just asking for a renovation; she was finally ready to create the kitchen she had imagined all those years.

We kept the spirit of the original footprint but stripped away the elements that held the space back. The peninsula that once divided the room was removed, immediately opening up the kitchen and restoring a sense of breath and continuity. A more modest 36″ range and a sleek French-door refrigerator brought balance to the room, while transitioning to one large undermount sink simplified the workflow. The new stainless-steel Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances—polished, sculptural, and quietly commanding—became the kitchen’s defining focal points.

Because she gravitates toward warm, grounded tones, we wrapped the space in stained white oak cabinetry that feels crafted, natural, and enduring. The leathered Taj Mahal countertops add a layer of understated luxury, their soft movement and tactile finish perfectly suited to an avid home cook. At the range, we designed custom open shelving tucked beneath the upper cabinetry—a thoughtful detail that keeps spices close at hand while giving the space an intimate, lived-in warmth.

A sage-green backsplash introduces a gentle wash of color, its subtle pattern harmonizing with the home’s modern craftsman character. It’s the kind of finish that feels both fresh and familiar—an instant classic.

The completed kitchen is open, functional, and deeply personal. It feels timeless, as though it evolved with the home rather than being placed within it. After twenty years of anticipation, the space finally reflects the way she lives—and the way she always dreamed it could be.
