Featured Project: Stunning Bathroom Transformations in Roland Park

When this family first came to us, the project began with a simple request: their daughter’s bathroom needed hot water at the vanity. But as soon as we began investigating, it became clear the issue was larger—failing pipes, leaks, and aging infrastructure that needed to be addressed. At the same time, their primary bathroom was no longer serving them, and together we saw the opportunity for a complete transformation of both bathrooms and the adjoining dressing spaces—bringing function, beauty, and boldness into the heart of their home.

In the primary bathroom, we reworked the layout to unlock the space they’d been craving. By shifting walls and borrowing just enough from the closet, we introduced a true double vanity and a generous steam shower that now anchors the room. Rebuilding the closet allowed us to create a fully reconfigured dressing room, complete with a custom island that makes the space feel tailored and intentional.

This client wasn’t afraid of color or pattern, which gave us permission to design with real drama. We drenched the dressing room and bedroom in rich, saturated tones—creating an enveloping, almost cinematic backdrop—while the bathroom leans dark, moody, and quietly powerful. A charcoal floor runs uninterrupted into the no-threshold shower, visually expanding the room and grounding the palette.

The dark reeded vanity became the showstopper the space needed. Because it sits in front of an existing window, we had to rethink traditional mirror and lighting placement. Our solution was a custom crown molding that doubles as a picture rail, allowing the mirrors to hang elegantly in front of the glass. Sculptural Visual Comfort pendants add layered lighting and refinement. Custom top-down bottom-up shades provide privacy while still welcoming natural light, their texture playing beautifully against the moody finishes. A whimsical York wallpaper adds subtle movement and charm, and a custom waterfall stone bench brings both sculpture and everyday functionality.

In the daughter’s bathroom, the project began with a necessary repair: the plumbing needed to be replaced due to leaks, and the bathroom required a full rebuild. We used this moment as an opportunity to rethink the layout entirely. By absorbing an unused vestibule leading to the adjacent office, we gave the space much-needed breathing room and incorporated a furniture-style storage piece that brings warmth and personality. A fully curbless shower—mirroring the primary bath—keeps the room feeling open and airy. We selected a playful wallpaper to add color and fun, and the custom waterfall stone bench appears here as well, linking the two rooms through thoughtful continuity.

These bathrooms now embody everything we love about renovating older homes: honoring their charm while introducing freshness, function, and a strong point of view. In both spaces, color, craftsmanship, and a willingness to embrace the unexpected allowed us to create rooms that feel alive, expressive, and perfectly at home in this spirited Roland Park residence.
