In the Field with JP: Episode 10

Progress is always exciting to see, especially when thoughtful design begins to take physical form. In this latest walkthrough of our Bel Air project, we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at several key moments—from a fully custom art gallery taking shape to a rooftop deck designed for taking in the view, and a kitchen that’s quickly coming together with layered materials and refined details.

This project is a great example of how collaboration between design and production brings highly personalized spaces to life.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

Hey guys, we’re back out here at our Bel Air project where things have been moving along since the last time we were here. Why don’t you follow me inside and we’ll go over what’s been happening and what we have to look forward to.

Here in the gallery, we’re actually creating a small art gallery. Design is currently working closely with production to place the client’s art pieces in very specific locations. We’ve laid out a template so we can position the artwork precisely, then come back to create individual niches for each piece, wire for lighting, install the framing, and complete the plaster work. This is a very custom, one-off feature, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Out here on the rooftop deck, we’re enjoying the view. This vinyl walkable deck surface is incredible—the client will be able to come out, sit back, and really take in the scenery. Not much compares to that, except maybe this siding over here. On this project, we’re using a V-groove cypress product from Legacy Prefinish, Inc., a company out of North Carolina. We always love working with natural materials, and this cypress is a true stunner.

In the kitchen, you can see how far things have come since our last visit. The floors are down, cabinets are installed, and the countertops are in place. We love the waterfall edge on the countertops, the white oak cabinetry, and the beautiful grain throughout. The simple white cabinetry on the back wall really balances the space as well. The kitchen is pretty far along at this point—just one more top to install and we’ll be in great shape.

Alright guys, that’ll do it for this time. Thanks for coming along, and don’t forget to follow along—we’ll see you on the next one.
